The Model No. (K15AL) Prosthetic Geometric Lock Pneumatic Knee Joint is a mechanical knee component designed for transfemoral (above-knee) prosthetic systems. The knee joint integrates a polycentric geometric locking mechanism with a pneumatic swing control system to provide stability during the stance phase and smooth motion during the swing phase.

This design improves user safety, gait stability, and walking efficiency, allowing amputees to achieve a more natural walking pattern. The knee joint is commonly used for moderate-activity prosthetic users (K1–K2 mobility levels) in daily walking and rehabilitation.

The knee joint consists of the following main components:

Geometric Lock Mechanism

The knee utilizes a polycentric linkage system (four-bar or five-bar mechanism) that creates a geometric locking effect when the prosthesis is loaded.
During the stance phase, the linkage structure stabilizes the knee and prevents unintended flexion, enhancing safety and balance.

Pneumatic Control System

The internal pneumatic cylinder provides air-based resistance to control knee flexion and extension during the swing phase.
This system regulates the swing speed and allows smoother and more natural leg movement.

Polycentric Linkage System

The multi-axis linkage design simulates the biomechanics of the human knee joint.
It shortens the effective limb length during swing phase, improving toe clearance and reducing the risk of tripping.

Stance Phase

When the prosthetic foot contacts the ground and bears weight, the geometric linkage system automatically creates a locking effect, stabilizing the knee joint and preventing accidental buckling.

Swing Phase

When the prosthetic leg leaves the ground, the locking effect is released.
